We cut silhouettes in the traditional style- there is no drawing, tracing, or digital alteration involved in our work. Using only paper and scissors, we freehand cut an accurate likeness within minutes, just as artisans did in the eighteenth century.
Silhouettes make charming, unique gifts and we use the finest archival quality papers and adhesive available to ensure that they will last a lifetime.
Each silhouette will be sent to you signed by the artist, dated, and mounted on 5x7 heavy weight white card stock.

When you place an order, we use a photo of the subject (you or your loved one).

For this silhouette, you'll want to dress out in your living history garb and pose for your photo.

When taking a photograph, please follow these guidelines so that we can cut the most accurate portrait possible and refer to the example photos in our FAQ section. If you have any questions, please contact us at silhouettesandsuch@gmail.com or through the Silhouettes & Such site contact form.

-Take a profile shot of the subject, at their eye level.

-Be sure the subject is looking straight ahead, with a relaxed expression and mouth closed.

-Include the subject’s full head/shoulders/hat.

*If photographing a wiggly child, we suggest that you catch them while they are watching a video or enlist help from someone who can capture the child's attention. It'll make your job much easier!

*We are sometimes able to work with a candid photo, but please contact me before placing your order.
Please bear in mind that you are commissioning a traditional piece of art, and not a computer-generated silhouette. We cut all portraits free-hand and do our very best to render a true and accurate likeness, and we hope you are pleased with the results! If for some reason you are not 100% satisfied with our work, please contact us as soon as possible. If you have any questions about our techniques or specific requests in regards to your silhouette, please ask prior to purchasing your item. Refunds are not available, but we are happy to provide replacement silhouettes upon request.

Most silhouettes ship within 3-5 business days, but please allow at least one-two weeks from order placement for shipment.

All items are mailed in a plastic sleeve and rigid protective envelope.

For custom silhouettes:

All items are shipped via USPS Priority, which includes tracking and insurance, unless other arrangements are requested.

If in the event an item is damaged upon arrival, customer covers the cost of returning the item for a replacement. We will cover additional shipping of a new product back to you.

If you would like an item expedited, contact us and we can inform you as to additional shipping fees.
